Autodsys Releases AcceliCAD 2008

Portland, Oregon — Autodsys, Inc. (http://www.autodsys.com/) announced today the release of  AcceliCAD 2008, a significant update to the CAD platform that redefines the cost/benefit relationship.

Key enhancements:

• AcceliCAD 2008’s new quick dimensioning feature will dimension an entire part or plan in one easy step. Methods supported include continuous, baseline, staggered, ordinate, radius, and datum point.
• AcceliCAD 2008 includes dimension-driven editing, allowing a user to modify a dimension and see the object change to match the new dimension.
• AcceliCAD 2008 includes a floating "Entity information window" that displays relevant information about an object when the user places the cursor over it. This feature also works with ArchT objects to display the object type, style, and size.
• Compatibility with AutoCAD 2007 DWG file formats
• Snapping to model-space entities from paper-space viewports

These enhancements are in addition to the innovative features introduced in AcceliCAD 2007 including floating prompt menus that put command options right at the cursor location, and heads-up keyboard entry that allows angles, distances and text to be entered without looking at the keyboard.

Other enhancements that can be found in this release:

• Viewport locking which constrains viewports to a specific scale factor
• A new color book editor provides the ability to effectively organize, create, and edit color books.
• Improved user interface for PDF export provides more flexible output options.
• Multiple enhancements for raster image handling include:
  • Improved user interface -4x increase in display performance for large images
  • Lower memory footprint for large images
  • Improved performance for drawings with a large number of images
  • Better support for monochrome images
  • New COM API for creating and manipulating image entities

In addition to the new features and DWG 2007 support, hundreds of bug fixes and minor improvements were added as well, including:

• Setup now supports Windows Vista
• Draworder enhancements for blocks and external references
• Dozens of new events and a new ApplicationPreferences object were added to the COM API. • A new Set Language command allows you to convert drawings or set your code page language preferences when opening drawings.
• Pasteclip allows you to specify an insertion point
• Performance improvements with drawings containing large meshes
• Improved performance and reduced screen flicker when using dynamic Zoom and Pan
• The Tangent-Tangent-Tangent option is now available for circle creation
